Very Interesting Discussion on Jawa Report
From Rusty at the Jawa Report:
I also agree with the commenters who denounce any blaming of the victim. We can all discuss positive steps the Muslim world could take at another time. I don't know who this Pakistani man was, but he probably didn't deserve to get beaten to death, and he certainly didn't deserve to get beaten to death simply because he was Pakistani.
This man's killing was wrong. Period.
The people responsible should be severely punished. Period.
Most of what Muslims call backlash is of the sticks and stones variety or things necessary to protect us from terrorism. This is not. This is very, very, very bad. Disgusting, if true.I fully agree with Rusty S. that the vigilante violence referred to only hurts the cause of reason. There's plenty of room for vigilance, but we really don't need any vigilantism right now.

Well, Batman is a billionaire, so I think he could support himself and a few other out-of-work vigilantes at the Wayne mansion, but I suppose I'm willing to allow an exception for one (1) Batman and one (1) Punisher. Maybe one (1) Spiderman, too. For one thing, they're more merciful than London street thugs. Batman and Spiderman generally don't kill people, and the Punisher will put a .50 cal between your eyes before you even see him. Getting beaten to death is among the worst ways to die, so I'm very much against that except for the truly guilty. Even for the truly guilty, I think "death by wire brush", "death by dremel tool" and "death by pliers" are much more appropriate methods of dispatch.
